Hope you guys are enjoying my candid diary posts / photos… you can see my first diary entry when I went to Chanel here. Ah, still such an exciting day. And I know everyone says it, but I can’t help & chime in and say, how the heck is it June?! Soon, Martin & I will be off for summer break and I’m hoping this summer we’ll take several…Read More
We finally finished our gallery wall last year, and I’m finally sharing all the details + where we bought all our prints. This home, more than any other, is my absolute favourite and I can’t wait to do a full living & dining room tour next. And if you haven’t already, you can see my home office tour here. Happy new week, friends. Did everyone have a lovely weekend? Plus happy Memorial long to my US friends! We just celebrated an epic birthday for Martin, and spent time with family & friends. Yay! In my previous post, I mentioned I’ve been dealing with a CFS flare-up and as a result… I’ve been feeling creative burnout too. If you’re a blogger / influencer (or human) than you know exhaustion can hit at any time. So for the month of May, I’ve been pressing pause and it’s been feeling amazingly good. I’ve also come to realize that I put wayyy too much pressure on myself. Pressure for perfect photos, perfect hair, perfect make-up, gaining a following, increasing my income, and not disappointing anyone (that one’s huge for me). Pressure, and perfectionism suck, and are guaranteed to ruin whatever it is we do. Moving forward, I’d love to cultivate more balance, and learn to lighten up.
What does that look like? I’m not 100% sure, but I think getting mindful is everything. When we’re able to see our bad habits, hopefully it leads us to make better choices. So moving forward, I’m excited to do just that, and create a healthier framework for my life. And if you’re dealing with burn-out? I’d recommend stepping back, spending time doing something you love, getting full on life & rest, and I promise you’ll come back a brand new human being.
As for my outfit, I’m so excited to have finally found the perfect mom jeans. The denim is nice & stiff which is perfect because they kind of suck you in + they give such a fun twist to all my usual/fave outfits. I’ve been wearing them with vintage blouses and heels, or cropped sweaters & sneakers for a day of errands. Have you tried the trend? If so, I’d love to know what you think… xo
Are you guys team light & airy, or dark & moody?… Today I thought I’d mix it up and give my photos a slightly different feel. I’ve been editing my pictures the same way for years and thought it was time to mix it up. I also hope to be back later this week with an outfit post and chatting on creative burnout and how I’ve been recovering.
But today, I’m diving in and sharing my fave beauty products for the month of May. Yay! Recently I asked what kind of content you were loving, and beauty received a unanimous vote, and I was absolutely delighted to hear it. Skin care has always been a huge part of my life and I love trying & reviewing new / new-to-me products. Let’s jump in!
Stila Lingerie Souffle Skin Perfecting Primer - I was so excited to try this one and it’s been a lovely addition to my make-up routine. I chose the illuminating finish, however it’s also available in a bronzing effect. The primer is made of natural botanicals, and over 70% water, which gives a refreshing feel to the skin when applied. I typically add mine under foundation, or wear it on its own for a dewy look. The light-refracting pearls add a natural glow and help blur imperfections.
Korres Wild Rose Spotless Serum - This has been such a popular item in our home. Last time I checked, my hubby nabbed it and I found my serum in his bathroom! ;) The serum is made of wild rose oil and 15% vitamin C, both of which do a great job with brightening and evening the skin tone. The product is also very light and doesn’t leave much of a film, or oil on the skin, and I love that it’s vegan and cruelty-free.
Wild Rose Vitamin C Brightening 24H Moisturiser - Because my skin tends to be extremely dry, for me, this cream wasn’t moisturizing enough. But I love it anyway and typically apply a richer cream once this one settles into my skin. The more anti-aging creams the merrier + I feel like this cream has so many benefits. From the beginning, I noticed my skin was brighter and took on a healthy glow & colour. This gem of a cream also contains super vitamin c, turmeric extract and hyaluronic acid, all of which my skin is loving.
Pixi Peel & Polish - Obsessed!! This is my go-to before any event, or special occasion. My skin always looks incredible and like I just stepped out of the spa + spent my morning at the gym. Hello, glow city. Sold! Also love that Pixie products are cruelty free.
Chanel 1932 Eue De Parfum - While some find this perfume a little too heady and strong, I love it. The composition is a powdery floral with a focus on jasmine. You’ll also find notes of rose, ylang-ylang, lilac and carnation. If you’ve tried it, I’d love to know what you think!
Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Lip Balm (in medium) - This is my new go-to, and come to think of it… it’s all I’ve worn since I bought it. The balm is meant to hydrate and revive the natural lip colour and it’s enriched with vitamin E and moringa butter. I absolutely love the hydration it gives my lips + I love the tint of colour too. I’m never heavy handed with my lipstick application and prefer a more sheer colour whenever possible. So for me, this is the loveliest addition.
