Hello friends, did everyone have a wonderful holiday and New Year?! To be frank, ours was far from perfect, and left us stressed. Families are complicated after all, but we show up and do our best. I will say, I’m definitely one of those “new year” dorks though. I’m always so excited for fresh starts, new dreams and chasing my goals. Some are large, some are simple (like getting outside more), but mostly I love creating mine from a place of content and gratitude. So important. With that said, here’s what we’re working on and hoping for…
Family planning: For us that means taking care of my health. I’m excited to say, I’ve been making huge strides with my auto-immune issues, thanks to a fabulous naturopathic doctor. My symptoms have all gone into remission after tackling some very serious health issues these past six years. It’s feeling like a huge relief, and making me feel hopeful we’ll be able to carry to full term and have a successful pregnancy. I’m also doing acupuncture, taking a few supplements and eating healthy / avoiding calorie restricted diets. I’m a notorious dieter and lately I’ve starting letting go of that habit, and I’m letting body settle at a more natural weight.
Home projects: We finally finished my office this past fall, and now I’m excited to finish our master bedroom. We’re buying this beaded flush mount (I’m obsessed) and we’re adding this herringbone wallpaper behind our bed frame. Can not wait, and of course I’ll be sure to share the project on the blog. In the meantime, if you’re curious to see what other items I love and have in our home, be sure to jump over to my home shop section. So many pretty things!
Looking for our next home: We’re slowly shopping for our next home, and we’re so excited. We’re taking our time though and want to make sure we find the right place since we’re anticipating it’ll be our forever home. At this point, we’re trying to decide whether we want to buy new again, or buy something slightly older (5-8 years) and do a full gut & reno. We’ll see. The last home we saw was this one (scroll down for photos) and we absolutely fell in love. It fits our aesthetic perfectly. We’re either staying in the same area, or considering moving 20 minutes from our current suburb and taking advantage of the slightly lower price point. Time will tell, but I’ll try to share more of our journey as we make decisions throughout the year.
Getting involved: We had so much going on with Martin’s parents last year that we kind of fell off the church grid. But I’d love to get back to our church (we go to Relate if you’re curious) and get involved in what they do and volunteer more of our time.
Create new rituals & routines: I’m definitely a creature of habit, but this year I’d like to be more conscious of my time and how I spend it. As much as I love working from home, I’d also like to take myself out for a coffee date and get some work done there, or head to our private club and work by our oversized fireplace & lounge, and get a change of scenery. I’d also like to get out more, rain or shine. I’m always happier when I do!
Re-launch my online store: Yay, yay!!! When I rebranded my site & brand, one of the things I was most excited for was bringing back my jewelry line. But this time, I’m focusing on a cause that’s near & dear to my heart and I can’t wait to get the ball rolling on this. There’s a ton to do and somedays I can definiltey end up feeling overwhelmed, but I’m realizing I just have to start, do a little everyday and get the ball rolling.
Well, there you have it friends, my goals for 2019. Nothing too revolutionary but I’m excited for all of them. The one I’m hoping for the most is our family planning, and I can’t wait to see what our future home has in store for us. I’m excited for the possibility of new home projects, fresh starts and doing it all with my love by my side. Happiest 2019, friends. Wishing you a beautiful year ahead and feeling happy & thankful to be back to blogging again. I feel so incredibly lucky to be a part of this amazing community!! xo
