We finally finished our gallery wall last year, and I’m finally sharing all the details + where we bought all our prints. This home, more than any other, is my absolute favourite and I can’t wait to do a full living & dining room tour next. And if you haven’t already, you can see my home office tour here. When it came time to choosing frames…Read More
While my office still feels far from done (I want to add new art, a beautiful Moroccan poof + replace our storage cabinet with open shelving), I’m also wanting to forge ahead and share more of our home in 2019. I don’t know about you, but I love seeing “real people” live in “real homes” - it’s relatable and always fills me with inspiration. When we moved to our new home a few years ago, I was so excited to finally set up an office in the second bedroom. A far cry from my work space just four years ago, which was just a small desk beside my bed in our master bedroom (here’s an old insta snap of my previous setup). It was always my goal to work hard, buy a bigger home and have an office for my blog & business. And now, we’ve affectionately dubbed it “VN” headquarters. Haha! ;)
As for the decor & vibe, as much as I wanted to do blush everything, I decided to go for a more coastal and relaxed aesthetic, especially since my hubby uses the office after work and I wanted him to feel just as comfortable in it. The office has 9 foot ceilings, an oversized window with a view of trees & garden, and the room is 8 feet x 12 feet with a 4 foot hallway. A generous size for our area.
When it came time to decorate?! We were definitely working with a tighter budget since we were buying all new furniture for the rest of our home as well. And my goodness, things really add up even when you’re shopping with a lower price point in mind. I bought my desk top + legs at Ikea and this storage unit. You can find my storage boxes here, they’re also from Ikea. My chair is from Pier 1 and I absolutely love the navy blue velvet + it comes in a beautiful blush velvet too. We also decided to warm up the office and paint it a lovely griege from Benjamin Moore and we love the feel it’s given our space. Lastly, my curtains are also from Ikea - they’re linen and my fave. Though for our next home, we’re wanting to work with Q Design and create custom drapery.
If you’d like to see more of our home, head on over here + can’t wait to share more with you oh-so-soon. I’d like to do our dining & kitchen next, share details on our gallery wall, finally share our re-furnished living room, and give the master bedroom a little facelift too. But I better hurry, hurry, because we’re shopping for another home as well.

Good morning, friends. I’m back and sharing the cutest & easiest DIY. Earlier this week I made a pom pom garland for our gallery wall shelf, and then added it to our tree once we put it up. I chose to go all white and picked out a lovely metallic string. However, you could choose coloured string, twine, or multicoloured pom poms to mix it up - so much fun. Plus it’s one of those fun and easy DIY’s you could do with your kiddo’s and make a fun afternoon out of it.
Twine (I used crochet cotton for today’s DIY but I definitely prefer working with twine)
Thread your needle and knot the end so your pom poms don’t slide off
Start threading your pom poms, and continue until you achieve your desired length
Then knot the opposite end and adjust your pom poms on your twine. And you’re all done!
Also, I bought my supplies at Michaels, but Etsy has a fantastic selection of twine and pom poms as well. Let me know if you have any questions in the comments below and I’ll be more than happy to answer.
Hope my post put you guys in a festive mood. Martin & I are officially bit by the holiday bug, and have been on a steady diet of hot coco + playing all our favourite Xmas tunes. It really is the best time of the year!! And we have sooo many fun events and holiday parties to attend this year as well. Can’t wait! What about you, friends… what are you looking forward to the most?!
Yay, I’m back, finally. I didn’t expect the blog to go so quiet, but my husband & I took two weeks off (thank you spring break) and it felt so darn good to take time away and unwind. But now, happy to be blogging and sharing tips on how to decorate your coffee table. I’d say I probably change / update mine seasonally, if not every month, and it’s a refresh I always love. We also recently updated our living room with new furniture pieces (rug / sofa) and swapped out our pouf & throw pillows to reflect our new colour scheme. We also did an over-haul of our gallery wall and dining room and I can’t wait to share that oh-so-soon too.
When it comes to decorating our coffee table? I love using books, trays, candles and flowers to create a statement. I also love to pull colours from our space, in our case that’s grey & blue, and add them to our coffee table. And as I mentioned… I’m all about seasonal decor (because it’s spring) I’ve added tulips to our coffee table and kept everything else, simple, light & airy. In the summer, I love to add a collection of shells to our hurricane and in the fall you’ll always spot a pumpkin or two.
My other favourite & easy to remember tips include: group your items in three’s, vary your object heights for interest, add pops of colour and don’t be afraid to pick something unexpected. I’d recommend this light rattan weave box, these gorgeous glass terrariums and lastly this Valentino coffee table book is on my wish-list too! Tell me friends, what’s your favourite table decor item?!
Hope you’re having a wonderful start to your week friends. This week, I’m SO excited to see my dear friend Cee, of Coco & Vera. Yay, yay!! And crossing my fingers for some sun too. We’ve had so much rain, and let me tell ya, I’m over it. Ready for all the spring adventures, please! xo
PS – You can also find our couch here. It’s from Pottery Barn, down-filled, and we ordered it in Performance Everyday velvet, in Carbon. We absolutely love, love the quality + it’s amazingly comfortable too.
